This project started in response to the Warren County Commissioners Conservation Challenge which challenged the Warren County community to become Certified National Wildlife Federation Habitat. To participate in the challenge, community members were encouraged to set up their own wildlife habitat in their yards, businesses, schools or places of worship by providing food, water, shelter, places to raise young and using sustainable practices.

After an assessment by local native plant gardener, Rachel Mackow, of Wild Ridge Plants, and the support of the Warren County Environmental Advisory Committee, we were able to purchase and plot out an example pollinator garden with native plants that can provide habitat and sequester more carbon than non-native plants through deeper, more established root systems, aiding in climate mitigation.

With the help from the NJ Youth Corps of Phillipsburg, Warren County Buildings and Grounds, and the Warren County Pollinator Protectors, as well as the Warren County Commissioners, a 12x12 plot was put in and provides an example that even a small piece of property can yield amazing results for wildlife and the health of the Warren County Community.

The members of WCPP would like to thank Wild Ridge Plants for their design input and aid with supplying the plants.
